The Ophelia Project - Tampa Bay Hosts Community Education Lunch

April 2006

The Ophelia Project of Tampa Bay welcomed The New York Times bestselling author, Rosalind Wiseman, to a community education lunch on April 6, 2006 at Higgins Hall in downtown Tampa. Wiseman addressed 275 members of the Tampa community, including parents, teachers, administrators, coaches, counselors and other youth-serving professionals, and shared information from her newest book, "Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads."

Wiseman's speech focused on how to navigate the "perfect parent world," and included key lessons that parents need to learn, including making a commitment to interact with the other adults in your child's life from a positive point of view. Wiseman also noted that we need to model respect and dignity daily in our own adult interactions. Only by doing this can we expect children to behave with the same respect and dignity.

"There was tons of energy and enthusiasm generated by the event," Nancy Dalence, Director of Communications for The Ophelia Project of Tampa Bay said. "There was a lot of parent-to-parent connection and support."
